Frozen

There’s freezing silence between us

It pains me to look at you

Cause I see nothing but emptiness

Where once there has been fire in your eyes

Your fingers are cold

Is your heart frozen too?

When you’re near me

I sense the icy chill that surrounds you

Your breath is like the winter’s wind

It makes me shudder to feel it

When you reach out for me

Your touch sends shivers down my spine

Your voice is bleak

I’m so scared to hear it

When you speak

It’s like icicles piercing my heart

 -

Where is the warmth that you have once possessed?

Where is the flame that has burnt in your heart?

What has destroyed it?

Why did it break?

 -

I wish I could heal it

I wish I could mend it

It pains me to see you like this

Cause I know that’s not you

 -

Something has hurt you

Something has taken possession of you

It holds you in an icy clutch

And you cannot escape

 -

You’re freezing from the inside

It’s creeping up in you

I see it

And fear it

 -
